RED HYDRANT PRESS
The studio of mexican printmaker Alynn Guerra in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Red Hydrant Press is the studio and gallery of local printmaking artist Alynn Guerra. Located in the historic Tanglefoot building; the one that first manufactured fly strips here in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
While trying to get a degree in Graphic communication got a change of heart realizing my job would be out by the pursuit of commodification and commercializatio of creative work, so I took a break and decided to learn traditional art, I thought I wanted to be a painter but I found printmaking in the quest. I always liked printmaking or "Grabado y estampa" never ever considered doing it myself.
My fascination with the process was in part because it seemed impossible to create an image that started completely backwards and from positive to negative. But what truly made me feel passionate about printmaking was its history of powering social movements, its accessibility and therefore affordability which all makes it a very powerful but humble form of art.
I proudly call myself a Printmaker.
